Homeschooling Reflection

After years of struggling, finally I am here to think about this way of learning. We were homeschooled for 10 years. Many things happened of course. Zahra has grown from a little girl to a maiden. Growing day by day that even I was always surprised at how tall she became. 

Homeschooling was chosen because the school I wanted for Zahra was unreachable for us. Besides that, I had confidence that I could guide her to reach success in life. I graduated from Universitas Indonesia majoring in Psychology anyway. Well, I had a bravery that may be too much. Then day by day I found pressure from some people around me. Some people were fascinated, and some kept on intervening. Well, life must go on, and we survived anyway.

Am I regret choosing to homeschool?. The answer is no. This method has several drawbacks, yet this is the best way this far. The shortfall for example lack of friends, lack of interpersonal relation challenges, and lack of a specific teacher. However, this method is really beneficial in focusing on learning, no bullying, and no drama of morning bustle. This way of learning is really flexible and easy to manage. We can choose where and when to study what we like. And talking about legality now is not a problem with some help from PKBM (Pusat Kegiatan Belajar dan Mengajar) or the learning center. Homeschooling is the best for the elementary level. Now I am considering Islamic school for middle school. Maybe she needs some friends, maybe she needs to practice how to manage problems with people around, well we have a year to think about it.
